Welcome back, Ladies and Gentlegeeks!
This week has been utterly hectic for me, I have had to house-sit for my parents while they went to New Orleans (lucky them) for the week, I have a calculus summer course (oh joy, math!), and this Monday was the start of my Google Summer of code project (although I have been preparing for awhile) :D
But enough of my complaining;
I have just begun my GSoC project: The SELinux Policy originator (or seorigin, I like seorigin)!
This includes creating a github for my project. :) You guys should check it out, no pressure (but you should totally check it out). I included a nice wiki for everyone regarding the overall design of seorigin and a more in-depth analysis of what seorigin is really about.
I've also been doing some side projects to help me understand SELinux a little more. I've been working with my mentor SwifT, and a grift on creating a fully working (we got some stuff to work, but enforcing doesn't seem to like it very much) policy package for a multicasting daemon created by my professor, blueness. :) It has given me quite a bit of insight on how SELinux policies are created and handled.
In my excitement I have also acquired a second machine from my professor, whom we shall continue to call "The big blue". I took it upon myself to install Gentoo on this one as well! Currently I am running into some Wireless networking issues though....wicd is taking FOREVER to install on it. But, time is one thing I do have.
I am currently working getting my capture plugin to work so I can continue to move forward in my project. The next step for this is getting the information I am retrieving from the Capture Plugin and "stripping it" so that we only get the real good stuff that we are looking for to be plugged into the database.
Seriously learning a lot, and I enjoy every ounce of information I get.
That's it for now, I'll be sure to keep this up to date as often as I can.
Expect more from me soon!
